Texting Mitts

Last night I crocheted a pair of texting mitts which will be a birthday gift for a soon to be 14-year-old.  The pattern came from Andree Grave’s Texting Mitts pattern book.  Honestly I’m terrible at following patterns (I think that actually helps me in writing patterns), and I messed the pattern up and ending up ripping it out.  What was throwing me off was working in the round– not one of my favorite things to do, so I followed Andee’s pattern, but modified slightly so I could work back and forth and just seem the mitts together when I was done. I surprised myself by being able to get the pair done in an evening, especially since they’re done in sock-weight yarn.  The yarn I used was Deborah Norville’s Serenity Sock Weight yarn in Spring Fling. I love the striping pattern of it.  Hopefully I can find the time to make some more of the mitts.  I have a tween becoming a teen in the fall, so maybe a pair for her too!
