I made this wreath for an avid hunter I know who spends as much of his hunting season as possible living in a tree house! Yes, he has a deer camp in a tree complete with wood stove, bed, and recliner. I decided he needed some appropriate and manly decor to dress the place up a bit. It’s not pretty, but it’s really not supposed to be. After all, it will be hanging in a hunting camp!
- 14″ Foam Floral Wreath
- 2-4 bandanas
- Pinking Shears (or Rotary Cutter)
- Floral wire
- Wire Cutters
I purchased a foam floral wreath and 2 bandanas in camo print. I cut the bandanas into strips using my pinking shears (For quicker cutting, fold the bandana lengthwise several times so you can cut a strip with just one snip). A rotary cutter would also make a fast job of cutting. One at a time, I wrapped the bandana strips around the foam wreath and tied it so the knots were along the outside edge. I was actually able to wrap the strips one and a half times around the wreath, getting a bit more coverage of the wreath with a single strip that way. The wreath would need at least 3 bandanas to complete otherwise. For a fuller wreath, more would also be needed. For the hanger, I just attached a piece of floral wire. I was able to make this in about a hour.
I have some more wreath ideas, so hopefully I find the time to work on those and share them at some point. Stay tuned!
